Hello all,
The Clouds opened up here in coastal Alabama today (it was almost pitch black outside at noon!), raining out my music gig in the afternoon (still got the yardwork in before the deluge....)
So....I got some more 1/6 time at the bench!
WWII British Paratroopers rank second only to US Paratroopers as my favorite figure modelling subject...yet I've put mine on the back burner for a bit...here is one that's closest to completion (it was my first British paratrooper purchase-DML's Soldat 3 with a Sculpt swap-I've since acquired 2 more Soldat 3s, and a fair amount of British webbing and gear in anticipation of a number of bashes).
This one may get a chevron on his sleeve, he may not. His helmet may get some 'scrim'...but he NEEDS to have a new sling built for that DML MK V Sten...(another item I've been slowly acquiring...Lord knows we need another release of this great gun...!). The only other thing I may do is to give his service boots a paint touch-up and a light 'dusting'...
His belt, braces, web gear, and gaiters have been 'blancoed', a la Tony Barton's excellent info, with acrylic paint. The DML basic pouches have been replaced with DiD's 'Michael Taylor' pouches, which, IMO are good stand-ins for the taller version of the basic pouches (the MK number escapes me at the moment).
The Sten bandoleer is the DML version, blancoed in a lighter shade (just for grins), and the haversack and straps haven't been blancoed at all...
Once I figure a way to stitch knit cuffs onto my other DML Denisons (including my re-colored "Ian" versions) I'll proceed, full force, with the other 'Para' bashes-I want a mix of knit cuffs and this later cuff Denison spread thoughout my group.
Th eHS is one of the DiD sculots that came with a carded set...this one has 'hair'...and is re-touched with washes...
Thanks for looking,
Bruce
