Reynolds and Buford - “It is Lovely ground”
Gettysburg, July 1,1863
Here combining my previous two bashes in a slightly larger generic base.
Maj. General John Reynolds and Bigadier General John Buford meet on the outskirts of Gettysburg.
In the movie Gettysburg, both generals are on horseback when this dialog takes place but for now on foot will have to do.
In the movie General Reynolds after looking around comments to Buford “It is lovely ground”, and Buford who has been bleeding his cavalry division for hours against Gen. Heth infantry holding that high ground, almost exhaling replies “I thought so, sir.”
