Hello all...
I finally recieved the last pieces I needed to complete this combination...(Thanks,Jay!)...the display base is being constructed sometime this week.
The scene depicts a sargeant adjusting the chute of a Captain, both of the 502 PIR (2nd Batallion) before boarding for their D-Day mission...
The figures are a combination of manufacturers uni and gear...
Here's the rundown:
Nudes and headsculpts-DML
M-42 unis-Captain-DiD's 'Stiner'-Sargeant-DiD's 'Corbin Black'-original dark green color removed then dyed to a lighter shade.
I like to use the DiD M42s for my paratrooper bashes that are 'chuted-up'-it hides the 'tighter' fit of these uniforms...
Pistol belts and susupenders-DiD
Basic web gear-mix of DML and DiD
Carbine scabbard-DML
First aid 'tie-on' pouches-DML and DiD
Boots-NLM
Helmets-DiD-repainted and decaled with home-made decals-Zang netting
Musette bags-DML
'assault' gas mask bags-DML
'Mae-West' life vests-DML ('stuffing' removed)
Captain's main chute-BBi
Sargeant's main chute-DML (James Gordon)
Reserve chutes-DML (James Gordon/Frank Laird)-I like these reserve chutes best; they're a little smaller than the others available-more prototypical.
Gas-detection brassards, 2nd Batallion recognition 'rags', and 'plane number' placard-scratchbuilt
Patches-CVI
I haven't decided if I'll 'blacken' the faces...there seems to have been a bix 'mix' of blackened and non-blackened faces...
but...I'll probably add 'scrim' to one of the helmets...haven't decided yet...
as always-Thanks for looking,
Bruce
